There is a particular poetry to Venetian glass: something solid made to feel almost weightless, structure transformed into ornament, intricate lines suspended in light.
The inspiration for Iris began in Murano, with the centuries-old artistry of Venetian glassmaking. Master glassmakers create zanfirico and filigree glass by drawing fine, coloured glass canes into delicate cords, twisting and swirling them into fluid patterns before suspending them within clear crystal.
The result is intricate yet airy, a sense of movement held perfectly still.
It was this balance of lightness and structure that became the starting point for Iris.
A flat ballerina designed around an open grid of fine cord, Iris traces curved, abstract motifs across the foot. The lines seem to wander and turn organically, somewhere between a flourish, a tendril and a drawing, creating texture without weight and decoration without excess.
Like the glasswork that inspired it, Iris plays with what is there and what is not.
The open construction allows air and light to pass through, while the swirling cord gives the shoe its distinctive character and quiet intricacy.
